SYNOPSIS

The award-winning feature documentary That’s Wild tells the inspiring journey of three underserved teenage boys from Atlanta attempting to climb four 12,000 ft snowcapped peaks in the heart of the Colorado wilderness, all while overcoming their own personal mountains.

Growing up in Atlanta can be hard as highlighted by three real-life protagonists in That’s Wild. Clifford (16) tries to fill the void of his incarcerated father, Ahmani (13) struggles with the aftermath of a homeless childhood, and Nicholas (13) grapples with episodes of depression.

When the boys sign up for the after-school program, Wilderness Works, they quickly begin to unpack the negative pressures that dominate their day-to-day lives. An adventurous backpacking summer trip in the heart of the Colorado wilderness, takes these teenagers through rapid rivers, high-altitudes and 12,000 ft snowcapped peaks, all while overcoming their own personal mountains.

Why?

The average American spends 93% of their time inside, which results in a wide range of increasing mental and physical problems.

As the United States becomes more diverse, some demographic and socioeconomic groups are still underrepresented in outdoor recreation and education.

That's Wild is a bold statement meant to inspire a new generation of all races and ethnicities to travel out into the natural world in search of adventure and to discover the mental and physical benefits the outdoors has the offer.
